Hire for classes, courses, clubs, associations – community meetings and more
The ground floor Community Centre offers a welcoming, modern, light and airy space that easily adapts to a wide variety of events and activities. It is open daily and serviced by a Centre Manager and Assistant Centre manager. Supported in opening and closing for hirers by the Whitchurch Association trustees, their aim is to make your time at the Centre as productive and enjoyable as possible, whether you are running an early morning exercise class, a week day children’s dance class or a club evening.
The Centre’s space is versatile and depending on your needs you can hire the main hall or half of the hall or the separate meeting room. The ground floor comprises:
Main Hall
The hall has three access points from the foyer and can be divided by acoustic panelling into two equal sized rooms, its ceiling also has acoustic panels to reduce echo. The hall has a sprung, beech wood floor and four large storage cupboards, dedicated to the use of regular hirers. Access to the outside decking platform is via a glazed door and a glazed fire exit.
The hall is fitted with air conditioning and an air purifier. It has a drop-down screen, allowing hirers to use their lap top to play DVD’s, CD’s and games.
Tables and seating are available for up to 80 people.
Foyer
This area has ceiling to floor windows on both sides providing views of the chalk stream and gives access to the main hall, kitchen, meeting room and toilets. It has a glass viewing panel in the floor over the river and offers an attractive space to sit and chat.
Meeting room
The meeting room looks out over the river and grounds and seats eight in comfort round a table. It’s ideal as a break-out room for conferences or training events, or for private meetings or interviews.
It has a tiled floor, so it is also suitable for physiotherapy or massage treatments.
Kitchen
The fully fitted kitchen has a double cooker, ceramic hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge, freezer and water boiler. Crockery, glasses and cutlery are provided. An electric roller blind links the serving hatch to the hall. There is access to an enclosed area at the rear of the kitchen, where large cleaning equipment is stored.
